Fishing Mechanics[]

To fish, a player must equip the Fishing Rod, and be in a location near water. A left mouse click will cast the line into the water. During this time there is a chance for the Sinker to bob underwater. If the sinker does bob underwater, you will also hear a splash. Clicking quickly at this opportunity will reel in the line and either catch the fish if the player managed to catch the fish fast enough, or a message displaying that the player had missed the fish. You have 2 seconds to reel in the fish before it escapes. If you failed to reel a fish in time, you do not have to re-cast the line. Simply wait until the sinkers bobs underwater again. A player can also reel in before the Sinker bobs down either by accident or to cease fishing altogether. It can take 20 seconds sometimes until a fish is caught.

Fishing Levels[]

The location in-which you fish as well as your fishing level are both factor into what types of fish you get. If you fish near islands, you will get the same fish regardless of the level you are. However if you are further from an island and higher than level 4 you will get different types of fish. Below is a table depicting what types of fish you can depending on level and location from an island.

- The distance from the islands determines the tier of fish which can be caught.

- After the player reaches Fishing Level 4, Mackerel , Tarpon and Red drum can be caught further out from the ports. (Open Sea)

- After the player reaches Fishing Level 7 Tuna and Marlin are able to be caught in the deepest waters found near or outside of the Map boundaries. (Open Ocean)

Fishing Level Locaton Types of Fish Avaliable
0+ In / Close to Island Ballyhoo, Mullet, Trout
4+ Open Sea, Not too far Mackerel, Tarpon, Red Drum
7+ Open Ocean, far from island Tuna, Marlin

Fish Trade[]

Once a player has caught a sufficient amount of one of the eight different fish currently in the game, they can be exchanged for crates of fish at the fishing vendor in Freeport, Harrisburg, and Cannoneer's Key. These crates can be sold at any of the trading posts at any island in a similar way to trading cargo. All fish cargoes will sell the same with two exceptions: Tarpons (which are less valuable) and Tuna (which are more valuable).

Be warned at Cannoneer's Key, not to drive too close to the docks in bigger ships as it can be nearly impossible to turn around if you are not careful.

Type of Fish Amount per Cargo
Ballyhoo 12
Mullet 12
Trout 10
Tarpon 6
Red Drum 6
Mackarel 5
Marlin 3
Tuna 2

Fish Press[]

An Oil Press can be used to craft fish oil from different types of fish. This provides a useful alternative to the Tarpon crafting recipe in the normal Crafting Station. Below are the required amount of fish used in making one fish oil. One note is to make sure the fish is on your back slot in-order for it to be used in crafting.

Fish Amount Per Oil
Ballyhoo 15
Trout 5
Tarpon 3
Mullet 10
Mackarel 2
Red Drum 3
Tuna 2
Marlin 1
