"The Serpent's junk-rigged sails make her easier to sail upwind. The Serpent is an Inyolan Warship."-Shipwright Summary

The Serpent is a level 8 ship with great cargo and armament, decent speed and durability, and great upwind sailing. An excellent trader for routes that do not follow the wind.

Strategies and Tips

The Serpent's cargo capacity, armament, junk sails, and durability make it a well rounded and multi-purpose ship. The Serpent can be used to outrun pirates upwind, sail down less efficient routes more efficiently, run down traders, and defend itself. When attacking a ship with a Serpent, the Serpent should try to drive the ship upwind, where it has an advantage. Similarly, if attacked, the Serpent should try to escape upwind, due to the junk sails. The Serpent has a massive blindspot at the front and back, as it has neither bow chasers nor rear guns.

Trivia

Named after the long, slender snake like mythological creature, sometimes in relation to dragons.

Based off a Chinese Junk, one of the first large sea going vessels that are still being used today. (Sketched example down below).

The Serpent is the only level 8 ship not named after a small mammal. Rather, it is named after a large reptile.

Lore wise, the Serpent is the flagship of the Inyolan fleet and the most abundant ship in the Inyolan arsenal.

It can be used to ship fish cargo down to Whitecrest , where it is the most valuable.
