"The Serpent's junk-rigged sails make her easier to sail upwind." - Shipwright Summary
The Serpent is an Inyolan level eight ship with great cargo and armament, decent speed and durability, and great sailing. An excellent trader for routes that do not follow the wind.
The Serpent is very similar to the Kraken, the only other Junk-rigged ship in the game beside the Serpent and the newly added Taipan. In most player's opinion the Serpent is better suited for trading than combat or pirate raids.
Trivia[]
- Named after the long, slender snake-like mythological creature, sometimes in relation to dragons. Known as a sea serpent
- Based on a Korean Junk, one of the first large sea-going vessels that are still being used today. (Sketched example down below).
- This ship is also native to East and Southeastern Asia(especially Korea, China ,and Japan), and sights of smaller junk-rigged ships are a somewhat uncommon, although-not-rare sight to places even as far as the Indian Subcontinent.
- The Serpent is the only level eight ship not named after a small mammal. Rather, it is named after a large reptile.
- Lore wise, the Serpent is the most abundant ship in the Inyolan fleet.
- Seen as a better alternative to the Marlin.
- First Inyolan ship added in to the game
- A favorite ship for trading among players.
- Well-armed, used by a great many pirates and traders.
- Great training for novice navigators who cannot use the wind properly.
- On 3/3/23, the Serpent got a remodel and buffed stats, however minor enough that it got overshadowed by the Neptune remodel.
